Our Philosophy
Our mission at LNC is to bring light & awareness to our clients who are working through their relationship with food and on a path to healing and recovery.
We are a client-centered, weight inclusive, anti-diet & relationship based practice. This means our goal is to cater to each individual client and work with them in a way that shows compassion, understanding, tailored interventions so that you feel heard, valued, supported and set up to succeed down the difficult path of behavior change. We do not focus on weight in our practice because we know the truth, which is weight only shows us a small portion of the story. Weight will not and should not ever be a primary focus with any type of healthcare. This does not mean we are anti- talking about weight, we are happy to discuss weight at whatever capacity YOU feel comfortable but it will NEVER be our focus. You and your healthcare deserve more than focusing on a number on a scale.
Anti-diet dietitians, what does that even mean? That means we known and understand the nonsense and harm that mainstream diets cause. We do not perpetuate the toxic dieting cycle that entails food restriction and body disconnection while resulting in a spiral of disordered eating and decreased self confidence and body attunement. This means when working with us we hope to never have you feel the feelings of the dieting cycle. No guilt, no shame, no stress and no more dieting bullshit!
Instead we help you navigate nutrition change through supportive care, realistic goal setting, health promoting interventions and fueled from a place of self love, compassion and abundance.
We’re a relationship based practice, meaning, we care about YOU. The best thing about our job is getting to meet new people from different walks of life, with different backgrounds coming together due to the struggles many have with food. We care to know you and your story. You may find we spend time in our sessions talking about other things than just food, that because we genuinely care to know our clients on a personal level, as well as help you understand the impact food has on one’s life outside of just nourishment.
